The police had to be called in to maintain order in Linstead, St Catherine this morning as scores of persons descended on the KFC restaurant to benefit from today’s chicken giveaway.

As a special promotion for its 50th anniversary, KFC is offering a free two-piece meal with the purchase of a three-piece meal.

Eager customers turned up early and braved the sweltering heat to get a number to enter the store.

Customers were excited to get the deal and thanked KFC for giving back.

"Mi affi get the chicken deal as a long time I am buying here and it a double today," said Marcia Bernard.

Similar sentiments were expressed by others.

Staff were seen busily trying to fill the orders.

Police from the nearby Linstead station watched the proceedings as persons squabble over who should be served and the size of their orders.

Meanwhile, social media was abuzz with videos of pictures showing long lines, with some chaotic scenes, at KFC locations across the control.
