Top six compete for Pulse prize -Finals live on TVJ tomorrow night
The Pulse Search For The Million Dollar Girl, which was launched in 2014, unearthed hundreds of model hopefuls anxious to become international models and to win the $1m prize.
Now, only six remain and these lucky ladies will compete for the top prize in the finals of the reality TV show, which airs on TVJ tomorrow at 9:00 p.m. The final episode in the the reality show, featuring Pulse, Vogue and L'Oreal supermodel Jeneil Williams, will be an hour-long special.
At the end of the TV show, one lucky girl with the perfect face, body and spirit will be selected Pulse's Million Dollar Girl, and will be awarded $1m in cash and prizes (with no less than $300,000 in cash).
The 2015 Search is now in full gear and young model hopefuls can visit or call Pulse at 38a Trafalgar Road, New Kingston, any Wednesday at 4 p.m. They may also call 960-0049. The search continues to target young men as well. Young women will be accepted in all categories - fashion, petite and full figure.
Meet the Top Six
Kingstonian Dana Hinds stands 5' 9" tall. A graduate of Clan Carthy High in Vineyard Town, she is currently a sales assistant at the Twenty Twenty Collection boutique. Dana is a party girl. She loves to laugh and to eat, the latter, of course, being challenging for a model.
Competing in the challenges has been her favourite experience since she enlisted for the Caribbean Model Search (CMS). For her, the underwater challenge was the best. Dana ultimately wants to become a successful international model or an entrepreneur. Her favourite Pulse supermodel is Carla Campbell.
Sixteen year-old Crissel Pike is 5' 8.5" tall. A St Andrew native, Crissel lists Jaunel McKenzie as her favourite Pulse model. Crissel thinks her personality is the most interesting thing about her and believes that she is different from the average teenager.
She loves to read and John Lewis is her favourite author. At school, she regularly wins reading competitions and numeracy challenges. A real talent, she writes stories, sings and dances. The jovial teenager declares that she does not believe in failure. "I finally feel like I belong somewhere. I am at Pulse because I love to model and it's something I always wanted to do," says the aspiring supermodel.
"Funny" and "trustworthy" is how 20-year-old Assania Cardoza describes herself. Standing 5'9" tall, this native of Kingston, Jamaica, loves to play netball. Her ultimate ambition is to be a successful international model. Her favourite Pulse model is Jeneil Williams.
Assania is employed at the Kingston Public Hospital and notes that she loves to sleep and hates coffee.
"I want people to know that I am a compassionate person," she said. Her best friends in the competition are Alicia Burke and Dana Hinds. Further, Assania says "I am here to win".
Twenty-year-old Alicia Burke entered the Pulse Million Dollar Girl Search to win and pursue her dream of becoming a model. Standing 5'9.5" tall, Alicia is from Bullet Tree district in Old Harbour, St Catherine. Alicia is an accounts receivable and inventory clerk and lists Pulse's multiple Vogue covergirl and current L'Oreal global campaign star Jeneil Williams as her favourite Pulse model.
Alicia is proud of her five CXC subjects and thinks that walking the Pulse runway has been her greatest achievement to date. A reader of many books, Alicia wants folks to know that, although she may be shy, she is determined to succeed.
This 15-year-old student of Old Harbour High School is from Old Harbour Bay and stands 5'10" tall. Her favourite Pulse model is Nell Robinson, who she finds inspirational. Amoy loves to listen to music and hang out with friends.
She enjoys meeting new people and practising her runway walk. Amoy also loves sports and plays on a winning basketball team. She is a very confident young lady who is excited about her prospects and the opportunities in CMS TV show, and wants to show the world just what she can do.
Amoy has a passion for modelling and hopes to become an international star.
This 23-year-old graduate of the University of Albany, New York, in actuarial and mathematical science stands at 5'8". Originally from Portmore, St Catherine, she lives in New York. Her favourite Pulse model is Jeneil Williams.
Remonia says, "The most interesting thing about me would be how animated I am when it comes to telling a story or just the way I react to things. I am also very creative/artistic, I always seem to find a way to put things together that create something cool."
A track star for about 15 years, Morrison has won several gold medals in the 400 metres but says her ultimate sport is netball. She loves modelling and wants to have a successful international career.
