One dead, two guns seized following shootout

One man is dead and two illegal firearms were seized following a shootout between the police and a group of men along Chancery Lane in Kingston yesterday.

The dead man has not yet been identified.

The Independent Commission of Investigations and the police unit, Bureau of Special Investigations are probing the incident.

The police report that a team was on patrol along Chancery Lane when they were fired on by a group of men.

It’s reported that the team returned the fire and the men ran.

During a search of the area the police say one man was found with gunshot wounds along with two firearms containing eight rounds of ammunition.

Meanwhile the police say an M-16 rifle was seized in Campbell Lane, Mount Salem, St James yesterday.

Mount Salem is one of two communities that have been declared zones of special operations.
