NWC establishes water distribution points in Hanover and Westmoreland

The National Water Commission (NWC) has established water distribution points across Hanover and Westmoreland to ensure residents have access to water following Hurricane Melissa.

In Hanover, tanks have been set up at Watford Hill Primary School and Ramble, while in Westmoreland, tanks are available at Broughton Primary School, Strawberry Primary School, and the Water Works Holiness Church.

Standpipes have been installed at the NWC Lucea Commercial Office and at the McQuarie, Pell River, and Seaview relift stations in Hanover.

In Westmoreland, they are located at Belmont Academy, Reno Football Field in Llandilo, Bluefields Pumping Station, and Bulstrode Treatment Plant in Frome.

"It’s a simple system, but it’s working, and people are grateful even if it’s just a small respite from the crisis," said David Pryce, Regional Manager for Hanover and Westmoreland.

The NWC says it will continue to operate these distribution points until piped water supply is restored to all communities.
