Two children injured in collision with JDF vehicle in Westmoreland

No details have been released on the extent of the children’s injuries.

The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) has confirmed a road traffic incident involving one of its service vehicles and two children on a bicycle in Cornwall Mountain, Westmoreland, on Tuesday.

The JDF and members of the local community provided emergency assistance, a statement said on Thursday.

It said the children were transported to a nearby medical facility for assessment and treatment.

One of the children received further medical care and was airlifted by the JDF Air Wing.

The statement did not provide details on the injuries.

The army said the incident was reported to the Savanna-la-Mar police station.

"In accordance with standard operating procedures, the accident is being investigated internally, as well as by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). The JDF is cooperating fully with the JCF investigation," the JDF said.
