Norris Rhoomes elected chairman of St Andrew JP body

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Norris Rhoomes has been elected chairman of the St Andrew Justice of the Peace Association (SAJPA) at a recent annual general meeting, held at the Police Officers’ Club in St Andrew.
A member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and a justice of the peace for over 13 years, Rhoomes currently serves as second-in-command at the JCF’s Police Emergency Communications Centre (PECC). He is also the recipient of the Medal of Honour for Meritorious Service, awarded in recognition of his decades of distinguished service to the force.
The SAJPA is Jamaica’s largest cohort of justices of the peace, with a membership of approximately 2,800
“As justices of the peace, we are expected to execute our duties at the highest level of professionalism, ensuring fairness, accountability and transparency. In my tenure as chairman, I am committed to continuously engaging our valued members through training and developmental initiatives, as well as community engagements and programmes that strengthen the association. I urge every member to support these efforts, so that together we can build a stronger association — one that truly serves the people of St Andrew and Jamaica,” Rhoomes said.
Custos Ian Forbes noted that “the election of this new board marks an exciting chapter for the St Andrew Justice of the Peace Association. Under Chairman Rhoomes’ leadership, I am confident that our members will be guided with purpose, professionalism and a deep commitment to service. As justices of the peace, we carry the public’s trust, and this board is well positioned to honour that trust through meaningful action in our communities.”
