People's National Party (PNP) Councillor for the Savanna-la-Mar Division in Westmoreland Julian Chang has resigned from the party.

The PNP made the announcement in a statement on Monday, saying that it had made extensive efforts through its internal structures to resolve concerns that had arisen between Chang and others within the constituency leadership.

According to the party, those efforts were undertaken in good faith and with the genuine hope of reaching a resolution.

However, it said that despite the commitment to the mediation process, the attempts were ultimately unsuccessful.

The party said its immediate focus remains on serving the residents of the Savanna-la-Mar Division and the people of Westmoreland.

It reaffirmed its commitment to providing strong representation, advancing policies aimed at improving the lives of Jamaicans, and continuing to build what it described as "a better future for all."

The PNP thanked Chang for her service to the people of the Savanna-la-Mar Division and for her contributions during her time as a member of the party.

The PNP also expressed gratitude to its members, supporters and representatives across Westmoreland for their continued commitment and service, adding that it remains dedicated to earning and maintaining the trust of the people it serves.
