A man accused of carrying out a fatal gun attack in St Andrew earlier this year has been apprehended in St Ann and charged by the police.
Charged with murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony is 21-year-old Andre Brown, otherwise called ‘Biggs’, of Fitzgerald Avenue, Kingston 13.
The charges stem from the killing of 26-year-old Tyrick Peart of Bertram Lane, Kingston 13, along Freeman Lane in the parish on Sunday, March 1.
The Hunts Bay police report that at about 9:00 p.m., Brown, who was allegedly armed with a firearm and accompanied by other men, pounced upon Peart and opened fire at him before fleeing the area.
After the shooting subsided, Peart was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The police said that following investigations into the incident, Brown was apprehended during an operation in St Ann on Monday, May 18.
He was subsequently charged based on recorded statements and a question-and-answer session.
His court date is being arranged.
