A 36-year-old businessman was shot and killed and a visiting Czech medical doctor was injured during a gun attack and robbery along Norman Manley Boulevard in Negril, Westmoreland, on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Nashon McGibbon, otherwise called ‘Bubba’, a business operator of Tigres Lane in West End, Negril.

The police report that about 8:40 p.m., McGibbon was at a section of the beach near his Flag City Restaurant, in the vicinity of Cayenne Beach, along with three employees.

The doctor, who was a customer at the establishment, had reportedly just been served a meal when the attack unfolded.

Witnesses reportedly told investigators that a motorcycle carrying two men rode up to the location.

Both men reportedly had hoodies covering their heads.

The men allegedly walked towards the table where McGibbon and the others were seated before pulling handguns and opening fire.

McGibbon ran and was chased by the attackers into an open field, where he later collapsed from gunshot wounds.

During the attack, the gunmen allegedly grabbed two bags containing cash before fleeing the scene on the motorcycle.

The police were summoned and, upon arrival, found McGibbon lying face down with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.

The visitor, who was seated close to McGibbon during the shooting, was also hit by bullets in his left shoulder.

He was taken to a hospital in Negril, where he was admitted in serious but stable condition.

McGibbon was transported to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators are probing the incident.

No arrest has been made.
