Two men were fatally stabbed in separate incidents in St Elizabeth and Clarendon on Sunday, with police reporting that suspects have been taken into custody in both cases as investigations continue.

The deceased have been identified as 22-year-old Tajay Atkins, an unemployed resident of Union district in Balaclava, St Elizabeth, and 57-year-old Errol Nelson, an entrepreneur of Brandon Hill district, Crofts Hill, Clarendon.

According to police reports, Atkins was found with multiple stab wounds to his body at the rear of his home in Union, Balaclava, at about 6:30 a.m.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical practitioner.

Investigators say the alleged attacker later turned himself in to the police.

He remains in custody as detectives from the Black River Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) continue their probe.

In the second incident, Nelson was reportedly stabbed to death at his business place in Brandon Hill, Breadfruit Tree Shop, Crofts Hill, at about 2 p.m.

Police said the alleged assailant was subsequently taken into custody.

Detectives assigned to the May Pen CIB are investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing.

The two deaths come amid a series of fatal stabbing incidents reported across the island in recent days, prompting continued investigations by the police into the circumstances surrounding the attacks.
