The police are reporting that three people were taken in custody following the seizure of approximately $500,000 worth of marijuana and an assortment of offensive weapons during a major operation in St Andrew on Friday.

The two men and a woman were arrested in connection with the seizures, which were made during operations in the Highlight View community and the Half-Way Tree Business District.

Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.

The police report that between 4:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., a team conducted a series of snap raids targeting suspected extortionists and gang members operating in the areas.

The police say several premises were searched during the operation, resulting in the seizure of the marijuana and offensive weapons.

The police say the operation forms part of ongoing police efforts to disrupt criminal networks involved in

extortion, gang activity and the illicit drugs-for-guns trade.
