Dalley withdraws election petition
Former parliamentarian Horace Dalley has withdrawn the election petition he had filed alleging irregularities in the Clarendon northwestern constituency on election day September 3, 2007.
Mr Dalley had filed the suit against Member of Parliament Larry Broderick and the returning officer for the constituency.
Attorney at law Abe Dabdoub who represented Mr Dalley said 2 years after filing the petition its now difficult to find the witnesses.
He said some have gone off on the farm work programme while others have left the constituency.
According to Mr Dabdoub it would be an exercise in futility and a waste of judicial time to proceed with the case knowing that there is not enough evidence for a true determination.
Dalley had filed the petition on the grounds that a large number of names of constituents were excluded from the voters’ list even though they had been renumerated.
