The lives of 11-year-old Ashantay; her nine-year-old brother, Omarion, and her youngest sibling, Davia, who is only four, will never be the same.

They won't get the chance to grow up with their loving and caring mother.

Jhanelle Monique Hendricks, affectionately called 'Big Red', loved her children dearly.

On January 18, 1986, Lorna Cole and Locksley Hendricks gave birth to their daughter, Jhanelle, and they now remember her as a loving and well-mannered child.

Jhanelle is remembered by her family and friends as a caring and kind person. She had wonderful attributes, one of which was her concern for people who are less fortunate.

"She loved to help people who were less fortunate. She enjoyed giving a helping hand to homeless persons," her mother recalled.

"Some people we would look at and call them mad. My daughter was always willing to help them."

Jhanelle was selfless, fun loving, and positive.

Growing up in Spanish Town, St Catherine, her mother remembered Jhanelle as a child.

Lorna reflected on one instance where she had to take care of her only daughter and ensured that she was always prepared.

"When she was younger, she would like to play at the pipe, so she would often get wet. Being a premature baby, she was easily sick, so I had to ensure that I had lots of medicines and cough syrup for her."

Jhanelle was always smiling. Her family and friends remember how generous and happy she was.

Jhanelle, 29, enjoyed cooking and dressing up. Her friends considered her a fashionista. She wanted to become a model.

Her brothers, Kingsley and Jason, along with her sister, Laura, and a host of family members regret her passing.

Her aunts Pauline, Linnet, Ruth and Monica, and her nieces and nephews are all saddened by her unexpected death.

Jhanelle was battling an illness from last year, from which her family thought she had recovered, regrettably, it came back in June of this year.

She was a fighter, but this fight she couldn't win. She passed away on September 21, 2015.

"I will never be the same," Lorna recounted.

A funeral service for Jhanelle is expected to be held on October 18 when her family and friends will gather to say their final goodbyes.

Jhanelle Monique Hendricks - a devoted mother, a loving sister, a wonderful daughter and a friend. She will always be remembered for her good nature.
