Today's ISSA daCosta Cup first-round match between Zone B rivals Rusea's High and Frome Technical High had to be called off during half-time due to lightning and pouring rain.

The match was being held at the Collin Miller Sports Complex in Lucea, Hanover,

Frome's head coach, Cleighton Stephens, said he did not mind playing the game another day.

"The rain did really rough and the players them said they couldn't see because the breeze ah blow too hard in their face," Stephens said, noting the conditions were challenging.

"The field would have been waterlogged, so I don't mind the game stop. The boys would be kicking in the water and I never wanted that," added Stephens.

Shortly after kick-off in the second minute, Rusea's Omarion Jemmison jumped the highest from a corner kick to head one in, giving his team the lead.

The Hanover-based Rusea’s were the more dominant team throughout as they threw their punches at Frome.

However, strong winds and dark clouds quickly became noticeable.

Patrons quickly scattered so as not to get caught in the rain that was headed their way.

As the rain poured, three men were seen sheltering under a hapless umbrella.

The match continued in the strong winds and pouring rain.

"The match blow off. The lightning nah stop, so we have to call it a day. We were watching to see if we could restart, but it nah ease up," said an official.

An announcement is to be made on a rescheduled game.
