76-y-o man found dead at St Catherine home, suicide suspected

The Point Hill police in St Catherine are investigating the death of an elderly man whose body was found hanging on the veranda of his home in Grass Piece in Browns Hall district.
The deceased has been identified as 76-year-old Auther Thompson.
The police say the matter is being treated as a case of suspected suicide.
Reports are that about 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, a passer-by noticed Thompson's body suspended from a grille on the veranda at a house in the community.
The police were summoned, and on arrival, the body was observed with a strap around its neck.
The body was removed and taken to the Spanish Town Hospital.
A post-mortem is to be conducted.
