Gayle is expected to be replaced by Argentine-born coach Javier Ainstein

Marcel 'Fuzzy' Gayle has resigned as head coach of Waterhouse Football Club with immediate effect.

Gayle, who has been in charge of the Drewsland-based St Andrew club since 2018, submitted his resignation to club executives on Monday afternoon, The Gleaner understands.

He is expected to be replaced by Argentine-born coach Javier Ainstein.

In the interim, Gayle’s assistant, Jermaine Miller, will take charge of the team until Ainstein receives his work permit.

Gayle’s resignation follows a poor run of form in the Jamaica Premier League in which Waterhouse managed just one win in their last seven matches. The club recorded three draws and three defeats during that period.

His final game in charge came on Sunday, when Waterhouse secured a 1-0 victory over hosts Montego Bay United.

Telephone calls to Gayle have gone unanswered.
