His court date is being finalised.

A St Andrew bearer has been charged for allegedly filing a false police report claiming he was robbed of his company-issued motorcycle and cellphone.

Twenty-seven-year-old Jovan Gayle, otherwise called ‘Javy’, is facing charges of larceny of a motor vehicle and creating public mischief.

Reports from the Elletson Road police state that Gayle, who was employed by a company as a bearer, was entrusted with a Road Hawk motorcycle and a mobile phone to keep and care for.

The police say that on Thursday, December 16, 2025, Gayle visited the police station and reported that he had been robbed of the motorcycle, cellphones, money, and other personal items by three men travelling on two separate motorcycles along the Bull Bay main road in St Andrew.

According to the police, following an intense investigation, it was revealed that Gayle had concocted the story he gave to investigators.

The police say he was later found in possession of the motorcycle and cellphones—both personal and work-issued—which he had reported as stolen.

The items were seized, and Gayle was arrested.

He was subsequently charged after a question-and-answer session.

Gayle is scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday, February 3.
