A man employed as a janitor at the Linstead Police Station in St Catherine, who is also a taxi operator, was today remanded for allegedly sexually assaulting a teen girl who was a passenger in his vehicle.

Forty-four-year-old Daleton Brown is answering charges of rape, indecent assault, and grievous sexual assault.

Brown was ordered by Acting Senior Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle to return to court on May 19, when the matter will again be mentioned.

Allegations are that on March 23, the accused was in Linstead and he picked up the complainant in his vehicle.

It is further being alleged that while transporting her to school, the man started touching her inappropriately, and he diverted the car and sexually assaulted the teenager.

She went home after the alleged ordeal and reported it to family members, who then took the matter to the police.

An investigation was undertaken by the police’s Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse, which resulted in Brown's arrest.

He was positively identified and subsequently charged.
