Two mechanics were today found not guilty in the Gun Court in Kingston in connection with a drive-by shooting in Burnt Shop district, St Andrew in 2024.

Roshane Miller, 34, and Carey Josephs, 47, both of St Andrew, were charged following a shooting in which two men sustained multiple gunshot wounds while sitting along a road in the area.

The prosecution alleged that the men participated in the April 2024 attack, which occurred during the morning hours.

The statements of two witnesses, neither of whom appeared at the trial, were agreed.

However, one of the witnesses has since died.

The first witness, in his statement, had indicated that he was unable to identify the occupants of the motor car from which the shots were allegedly fired.

The second complainant, now deceased, claimed that he was able to identify Miller as the driver of the vehicle and Josephs as the gunman.

However, Miller, through his attorney, Samoi Campbell, denied being at the scene of the shooting.

The defence called witnesses who sought to establish that he was in the Barbican area at the time of the incident.

Josephs, who was represented by King’s Counsel Peter Champagnie, also denied involvement in the shooting.

His defence presented evidence, including testimony from a witness, that he was at a school in the Havendale area when the incident occurred.

The trial was presided over by Chief Justice Bryan Sykes, who found that the prosecution had failed to establish the defendants’ guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and found them not guilty.
