Nelson to meet with unions on MOU3 negotiations

The Finance Ministry is hoping to sign a new wage agreement with public sector workers by April.
Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, Senator Dwight Nelson, is currently meeting with unions in a bid to craft the third Public sector Memorandum of understanding.
He met with 33 bargaining units and 44 public sector groups since September 1 last year.
Senator Nelson said the government is now examining the various claims to formulate responses.
He also said pay increases for public sector workers, will be determined on the basis of cost of living, comparability and government’s ability to pay.
Inflation projection out turns for the 2007/2008 fiscal year is between 12 and 13 percent.
