Alleged robber fatally shot by police following break-in at Phoenix Park Village

Alleged robbers were stopped in their tracks by the police in the gated community of Phoenix Park Village, Phase 3, in Portmore, St Catherine this afternoon.

One of the men was shot dead, while his crony escaped.

The police reportedly recovered a firearm.

Reports are that the men allegedly broke into a home.

While fleeing, the men were intercepted by the police along Hellshire Drive in the community.

The car the men were travelling in crashed and a shoot-out reportedly ensued.

One of the alleged robbers was shot while the other escaped.

Residents say the gated community has been plagued by robberies in recent times.
