Two women killed in Bayshore Park, Harbour View gun attack

Two women were shot and killed early this morning in Bayshore Park, Harbour View, sending shockwaves through the East Kingston community.
The deceased have been identified as 82-year-old Merna Robinson and 37-year-old Phyllis ‘Munchie’ Powell.
Details surrounding the circumstances of the attack have not yet been disclosed, and police have not indicated a motive. Investigators are still processing the scene.
Residents reported hearing explosions resembling gunshots in the early morning hours, after which the women’s bodies were discovered.
This latest incident brings the number of females murdered in Jamaica this week to six, including a four-year-old girl, heightening concern over violence affecting women and children.
Police are appealing to anyone with information that may assist in the investigation to contact the Harbour View Police or Crime Stop at 311.
Prior to this incident, the Kingston East Police Division had recorded only one murder since the start of the year.
